The site Goldenes Horn is only separated by a country lane from the Heerkretz site in Neu-Bamberg. This is where our Silvaner grows.
The name Goldenes Horn is derived from the site’s geographic shape: a little horn that is said to radiate a golden glow when illuminated by the sun.
Like the Heerkretz, the Goldenes Horn vineyard site is one of the most elevated in Rheinhessen at around 250 m above sea-level, and it mainly consists of weathered porphyry. Because of the enormous quantity of rocks, working the soil is also very difficult here. Over time, this led to a lot of stones being carried out of the vineyards and used to build a clearance cairn well worth seeing.
